 Marshall,

 Welcome to world of trunked radio listening.  I am a Uniden dealer and
sell and service their digital scanners.  I am in Gaithersburg.  Our main
 business is selling radios and accessories to police and fire departments 
in the
 area.  We just won one of the Maryland State Contracts with Uniden and 
Relm/BK radios. I
 also sell EF Johnson trunked radios.

 One of the advantages of buying from me is that I will program the local
 systems into your unit thus letting you start using it out of the box.  The
programming is much harder than the old scanners.  The radio shack units 
have very old
systemsin them and only limited set of systems.

 If you buy the BCD396, I have a special antenna for the 800 MHz systems.
 The included antenna is for the weather channel.

 Rebanding is around the corner and in time your scanners will have to be
reflashed for the new channel plan and you may need a dealer to do this.

 I saw post on the Strike Teams.  I have worked with them and they have
 special boats.  They are stationed at Cabin John and Glenn Echo.
