The handheld radio I own that can hear trains farther away than any
other? A four-channel crystal Montgomery Ward 856 made by Sharp. Possibly
my PRO-2004 has ears as good. I am in Alexandria. I could easily hear
trains on the B&O in Montgomery County with that Sharp. I had a homebrew
power supply for it. I dream of finding a shoebox full of crystals at a
yard sale.
I owned a better car then too, and lived much better on less money. I am
not better off now than I was xx years ago. The good old days.
