Al,

I saw a piece on our local TV news last week that some of our local agencies in the Balto area are also signing on to this system.

Who knows---maybe wiser minds will prevail and this thing will really get off the ground and be useful.

I guess anyway.

Was looking at our county nxpaper (charles co. md independent 12/05/07)
& read an article where the county p/d is hooking up to a *new* system
called "LinX". LinX was delveloped by the NCIS & was expanded in a post
9/11 atmosphere of everybody-should-now-share-info. With "everybody"
being law enforcement entities.

Now the DoJ thought local law enforcement being able to share info was
a unique & novel idea but , with all the billions of 9/11 dollars being
wasted on pork , said "we'll think about it". I mean after all spending
tax payer money on a worthy project really is pushing the limits of
being reasonable.

Anyway NCIS said we'll develop our own & if any local law-men , I mean
law-people , want to join that sounds like a good idea. Apparently
Montgomery County got smart 1st & has been part of the plan for a'while.

I sure feel more safe knowing that my local p/d is going to be able to
talk to a neighboring agency to see what's up.

The fact that it's the 21st century & they are now just getting around
to that possibility leave's one pause. But look on the bright side...we
here in Charles County have that spanking new half-million dollar
"mobile command center" to keep everyone safe. Course they can't talk to
anyone else but don't be a spoil-sport...they are working on it.
