Supposedly, they're all out of service, with only "Hanoi Taxi" the last
one left in flying condition. Well, one just flew west over central
Alexandria at 10:01 a.m. EDT; it would have left KADW about 9:55. I see
this plane about one a month. I know a C-17 when I see one, and this was
not a C_17. This a/c had that characteristic C-141 sound too, a unique
high-pitched whine that the C-17s do not have, that drops sharply in
pitch due to the Doppler effect as it passes overhead. Once you've heard
it, you'll always know it. DC-3s are like that. I can hear one from
inside the house and know what it is.

This a/c was not flying on a route for an Arlington National Cemetery
flyover. Are they operating for some other country's air force?

I certainly would appreciate a tail number for this plane. Thanks.
