AHA!  Thanks Jeff, been wondering about that.  A friend who is a retired MC firefighter has tlaked to some of his friends who are still active and they haven't heard anything about the designator switchover.

The chevrons will also be on the new pumpers, there was a picture of the one for the training academy shown on one of the hidden DFRS websites (gone now otherwise I'd link it).  It was numbered 727.
