[Scan-DC] Online Scanner Feeds

John,
Skype is completely free for computer-to-computer calls. Skype only costs
money if you want to connect to landline phones or cell phones, which I
don't do.
I don't know about Vonage connecting to Skype and all that.
Skype works with my existing computer and internet connection. Absolutely
nothing additional is needed, except to download and install the Skype
software (which is free). In other words, setting up my scanner audio feed
on Skype cost nothing up front and there are no fees, so it's as free as
free can be!

Interesting advertising on Skype's webpage.. One sentence touts
calling anyone via VOIP free. In the same paragraph it states unlimited
calling "for less than $3.00 a month". Paying a monthly fee is not my
definition of free. But in another link it states audio and video calls
are free if the calling and answering parties are registered Skype
users. I'm not sure how that works on a non-Skype phone number but
obviously it does in this situation somehow.
Question..Can Vonage users use Skype or would there be a OS software
conflict? Vonage requires the use of a standalone cable modem
interface. No mention is made in the post of Skype requiring a
standalone cable. I suspect the setup is a bit more involved that
downloading the software and installing it.
Please provide more setup and operation details. Tnx.
