I think there might be confusion between having to use JATO
bombs for routine operations and emergency use in the
event of an engine failure.
The caption for the photo indicated the JATO bombs were
for use in passenger operations in the event of an engine
failure (assuming on takeoff). It doesn't indicate the
JATO was used for normal takeoffs.
Just a thought.
