The president uses a smaller AF1 when he comes to Roanoke.  I forget the exact type.  The crew practices landings here (KROA) frequently.

  I doubt it.  Roanoke is an extremely dangerous airport for landings 
and takeoffs.  Roanoke is located at a gap in the mountains and winds 
funnel up and around the valley and mix unpredictably.  Roanoke is a 
mixing pot location for unpredictable weather.  Watching tv yesterday 
morning showed light snow falling.  By afternoon it was sunny and 
windy.  Many SNG trucks yesterday had difficulty maintaining a boresight 
on their target satellite.  Fox and MSNBC especially had problems with 
frequent signal losses due to wind loading problems on their parabolic 
reflectors.
