The president uses a smaller AF1 when he comes to Roanoke. I forget the exact type. The crew practices landings here (KROA) frequently.

I doubt it. Roanoke is an extremely dangerous airport for landings
and takeoffs. Roanoke is located at a gap in the mountains and winds
funnel up and around the valley and mix unpredictably. Roanoke is a
mixing pot location for unpredictable weather. Watching tv yesterday
morning showed light snow falling. By afternoon it was sunny and
windy. Many SNG trucks yesterday had difficulty maintaining a boresight
on their target satellite. Fox and MSNBC especially had problems with
frequent signal losses due to wind loading problems on their parabolic
reflectors.
