[Scan-DC] HAWK/STEEL Flight

A couple of days ago, a STEEL 89 (KC-135R PA-ANG Pittsburgh) flew to the 
MA-ANG unit at Barnes and picked up five A-10s, callsign HAWK, and 
accompanied them on a deployment to Savannah. They flew through this 
area on the ZDC freqs and refueled around the Norfolk area. The STEEL 
tanker did all the talking for the entire flight while on the ATC freqs 
and interflight chat/refueling between the tankers and fighters was on 
293.7. Today, early 1400 hour, two flights of the A-10s - HAWK 11 and 
HAWK 31 -  came through the ZDC area on their way home to Barnes. Last 
heard as they were handed off from ZDC-Sea Isle 281.45 to ZBW-Hampton 
299.7. They were followed about an hour later by the same STEEL 89 
tanker who was heard contacting Hawk Ops at Barnes on 303.0 with an 
arrival message stating he had 35 passengers and their bags to drop off. 
I've been searching media for a story to go along with this curious 
mission but have found nothing yet.
