Yes, I have been hearing MTP on a digital talkgroup for quite a while now, maybe more
than a year. I usually lock it out, but I recall that there were often problems with
the coverage. The digital seemed to be patched with the analog channel. It seems as
if there are several tac channels that are digital only. I also heard some sort of
MTP surveillance or stake-out on a digital talkgroup a few weeks ago.
I have also hear a LOT of radio techs testing on the digital system. Things like
"entering tunnel...in tunnel...entering station...in station..." Also technical
discussions of dead spots, failed amps, need to re-splice cables, etc. This has been
going on intermittently for several months. It sounds like WMATA may be filling in
the holes so the MTP could really use digital. Maybe they are getting close to
implementing the digital system for the trains, or at least having the ability to do
so. I guess that that would require some expensive new train radios, which might be
a problem based on recent headlines.

Subject: [Scan-DC] Metro Police on analog?
Greetings,
I was listening to the Wmata trunk system and herd metro pd on both a digital and
analog talk group.
Is what I am hearing correct?
Do they have a digital talk group and a analog talk group?
Both talk groups I herd is of main dispatch.
Any help with this question is appreciated.
John
