You are absolutely correct. It would have been better (as well as
accurate) of me to say that the cost of the shipping is bundled into the
total cost of items sent by Amazon, once they are over a certain price
limit.

I have seen instances of items at eBay selling for an unusually low price
but with exorbitant shipping charges added on to the winning bid. This is
done to beat the commission, of course.

The final cost of the item, received by you at your doorstep, is what
counts.
