          DC National Guard To Hold Critical Capabilities Operation


WASHINGTON, DC –. Lt. Gen. H. Steven Blum, chief, National Guard
Bureau and more than 450 National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from the
District of Columbia, Maryland, Michigan, New York, South Carolina,
Virginia and West Virginia Bureau will a conduct critical capabilities
exercise of the National Guard forces and their equipment.

For citizens in the National Capital Region - this is only an
exercise. This exercise provides critical training for response to
civil emergencies and will involve several hundred Guardsmen, and
emergency response personnel. Please be advised this is only a
training exercise.
Date:  Tuesday, April 4, 2006
Time:  11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location:  DC Armory 2001 East Capital Street, SE. Washington, DC
20003

Aircraft, vehicles and other technology and equipment will be on
display. No major roads or service areas will be blocked. Please use
caution while driving though the area as pedestrians and vehicles
traffic may cause traffic congestion.



           DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA NATIONAL GUARD HOSTS
                    CRITICAL CAPABILITIES EXERCISE HERE


Washington D.C. -- The Chief of the National Guard Bureau is
conducting a Collective Training Exercise, hosted by the D.C. National
Guard, featuring National Guard Soldiers and Airman from various
states.

The exercise, will take place Tuesday 4 April, 2006 at the D.C. Armory
from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m., and will showcase many of the skills and
equipment National Guardsmen would use in the event of a terrorist
threat.

This exercise will include a wide range of chemical, biological and
communications capabilities, decontamination, emergency medical
services, technical search and extraction, and security support to
civilian law enforcement in response to a weapon of mass destruction
incident.

Guard resources involved in this will include a Chemical, Biological,
Radiological, Nuclear, or High Yield Explosive Enhanced Response
Forces Package (CERFP) and a Civil Support Team (CST).  The CERFP is
available to any Governor, Mayor, and city officials to support the
needs of the emergency response and emergency management communities.

Media wanting to attend this event need to come to the DC Armory at
2001 East Capital Street, SE. by 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, for a safety
brief and an operational orientation.

Please note that this event will be run in stages and it will take
approximately one hour to complete one run.
