Definitely thunder. I was in Baltimore when the rain/sleet/snow started. All 
accompanied by lightning/thunder. "Thunder snow" it's called; a rare event 
indeed. What was really odd was that it started as rain, the sleet, then 
snow in less than 2 minutes. I was walking from the main building of the TA 
in Baltimore to where I had parked my tractor/trailer rig at the time. The 
snow lasted only about 10 minutes tops.
