Each year on December 17th tribute is paid to the Wright Brothers at the
Memorial in
Kill Devil Hills North Carolina. Friday and Saturday was sunny and nice. On
Friday there
was some speech making from decendents of the Wright Brothers and a couple
of new
sculptures were unveiled. Saturday was more speech making and festivities.
Didn't
have a lot of planes come over on Saturday compared to past years. Both the
Navy and
USAF Dare County Bomb Ranges were quiet Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Probably
closed so the flyovers at the Memorial had holding space. The USCG had a
C-130 and
heli fly over together, then a Candy Bomber from the Berlin Airlift. Several
single ship fly
overs but I don't recall the types. Had a formation flight of 4 Bonanzas
and then 4 Fighter jets
depending which announcer was referring to them as they were called F-15's
F-16's and F-18's. I think the pilots in the planes were amused and wondered
just what kind
of a plane they were really in. Varied parachute and skydiving demos
including the Golden
Knights. Not near the scanning entertainment as in years past.
