Folks I'd like to take a moment to let you know about some important additions we've made to our scanners page at:

  http://henney.com/chm/links/scanners.htm

Some of you may be familiar with the RadioReference site run by Lindsay Blanton (and a whole host of admins). Recently a little used resource has gotten quite a jump start with a GREAT deal of information called the RadioReference Wiki.
Basically the Wiki is using the Wikipedia application to allow registered folks (the registration is free, but completly seperate from the one used on RR) to create their own web pages. The Wiki encompasses a great many topics, some on HF, Antennas, software, ect. You may view the wiki without restriction, but to change or edit the pages, you must register.

For those folks that would like to investigate the available scanners and VHF/UHF receivers out there, a Wiki page has been developed for those radios made by AOR, Uniden, Radio Shack and Icom. These pages are linked in the appropriate section on the scanners page.

Each page has a summary of mods, EHam reviews, supporting software and any related page(s) that might exist, where known. These should be very useful for those folks looking for that new rx from Santa...

You might have heard that Uniden will be releasing a new GPS Aware scanner (yes, it needs a seperate GPS receiver) that will also be a trunktracker and have some upgrades from the current BCD396T. It's called the BCD996T, and we have a few links on this new model as well. Note that the Wiki page for the 996 lists the new features, but is PRELIMINARY (thanx to UPman for building the page). The expected release date is spring 2006.

As always we try to keep up with some of the new stuff going on out there.

With that, I wish all a happy Turkey Day - 73s Mike
