See below...
> Announced by Chief Guercio today:
>
> It is the current plan for MCFRS to begin operations at the interim
> Clarksburg Fire and Rescue Station on Sunday, November 20th at 0700 hours.
>
> The initial operation will be a 4 person, ALS capable Engine - Engine 351.
> For the 1st 120 days of operation, this unit will be E171 from
> Laytonsville, and I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the
> Laytonsville Volunteer Fire Department for their cooperation on the
> utilization of this engine.
>
> Captain Tony Cochran has been assigned as the Station Commander for FS35,
> with Captains Jay Zuspan and Susanne Mann also coming on board.
>
> The interim Clarksburg station plan includes the assignment of an EMS
> vehicle that will begin around February 1st as the interim station if
> fully "built out". Once in operation, FS35 will operate in the "1 and 1"
> pilot ALS delivery program. EMS2 will also be reassigned to FS35.
>
> On another note, MCFRS will begin deployment of "Shift Safety Officers" on
> Sunday November 13th at 0700 hours. Captains Keyser, Grierson and Trevey
> are assigned to this critical function.
>
> At this time, the command officer dispatch for structure fires will
> continue to include 2 career Battalion Fire Chiefs. It remains the
> direction of the Operations Chief that the principal role of the 2nd
> career Battalion Fire Chief is to provide timely coverage of the Scene
> Safety Officer function. There is only one Shift Safety Officer, and
> therefore their response to incidents county-wide will involve many long
> responses. When the Shift Safety Officer does arrive on the incident
> scene, they will report to the Incident Commander and the safety function
> should be transferred to them, with reassignment as appropriate for the
> Battalion Fire Chief.
>
> Chief Carr and his Senior Staff continue to appreciate the efforts of all
> our personnel. Please keep focused on good risk/benefit decision making
> and efficient incident scene operations.
