[Scan-DC] Gene Hughes - Creator of Police Call Retiring

Hey John and all,

Barnett was the editor of PC and based on Bob Grove's interview and the 
Wired article, Gene did not sell it to anyone. The problem evidently was 
with Radio Shack who decided they would not make their annual order with PC. 
Without that order, PC wasn't going to have a good year so Gene pulled the 
plug. He has said on two occasions he would not sell PC to anyone and his 
kids didn't want it.

It is a shame we have lost a resource. Yea, I know you can get it from the 
FCC on the net, but when I am not in a hotspot on the road, PC really came 
in handy. It also helped me when I missed something on the FCC website and 
it also made some analysis of systems easier. But then again, I am an old 
school hardcore hobbyist and most in our hobby today aren't so PC didn't 
have the same meaning for them.
