CHANTILLY, Va. -- Dulles Airport continues to expand as it prepares
for a busier future, and a big sign of progress is the completion of a
new air traffic control tower, which soars to 325 feet.

The authority that runs Dulles built the tower, which will be turned
over to the Federal Aviation Administration in the coming weeks. It's
expected to be up and running in about a year, replacing the original
tower built in 1962.

The taller tower is needed as Dulles expands to handle millions more
passengers. About 27 million passengers are expected this year, making
it among the busiest airports in the nation.

Over the next 10 years, the number is expected to jump to 40 million.
