FYI...I've been told the only reason any fire folks are able to communicate
in New Orleans is because a USRT tech, who went down to NO with the
Montgomery County, MD contingent, has set up a repeater using USRT
equipment. All of the departments down there appear to be using this
system, which is covering the whole city, (and some say covering it better
than NO's old 800 MHz analog system used to cover it).
BTW...the NO ECC was completely knocked out by the storm. 9-1-1 isn't
working at all.
