Fiber-optic wires connect neighboring jurisdictions.
By Michael Lee Pope

Alexandria and Arlington have a historic relationship. Both were ceded to
the federal government to be part of the District of Columbia in the
1790s, and both were "retroceded" back to Virginia in the 1840s. Now, in
the 21st century, they have a new connection that will increase security
response and government efficiency in Northern Virginia.

As part of its franchising agreement, Comcast has installed hardware that
connects the two neighboring institutional networks. Alexandria and
Arlington equally divided the $50,000 payment to Comcast to create the
link.

Interesting. There's a photo with the article. The caption reads:
"Fiber-optic connections that link the institutional networks between
Arlington and Alexandria have been installed behind the Charles Barrett
Recreation Center." At first I thought, "Gee, that's great. Now the
terrorists know just where to go to blow up the connection." Then I
actually looked at the photo. It shows a three phase power line with
three pole-mounted transformers. They probably provide the three-phase
power to Charles Barrett. Blowing them up would affect the ability of the
cafeteria to serve "mystery meat."

The terrorists would be better off with a backhoe.
