More than likely you heard aircraft from the MD ANG. Here are the
particulars from the Grove Military Frequency Directory.
34.4000 USAF Martin State Airport MD 175 Wing/104FS Air-to-Air V01
343.700 FAA Fort Belvoir/Davison AAF VA Departure Control [Potomac
Approach/Departure]

Someone is local on 34.4, they pointed out National airport to the other
pilots and were active for about an hour. They used 343.7 for a check-in at
1458Z. There was more than 2 a/c up on the freq. Also mentioned "going to
combat trails through the clouds".
Any idea who this was then?
