Ron,
I wanted to take a moment and thank you for doing these types of posts. I
know how much time it takes, not only to put together the freqs over time
but to organize them neatly and include pertinent information just so others
have a better understanding of things. Every time I set out to share freqs,
it generally takes me a couple of hours to convert everything from my way of
doing things over to a way so that others can understand it. Not always as
simple as it might seem. My way of doing things would have the next person
scratching the head. Makes sense to me but I am screwy anyway.

I have saved all of these emails from you and plan on picking through them
in the next few days to see if I may have lucked into something you may not
have or if you have something that I don't have. I might get to that today.
But I just wanted to take the moment while I am thinking about it to say
thank you very much for your fine work.

Remarks:

    1. Weide Army Airfield is the home of  Maryland National Guard's
Aviation 
Units. They fly Tues-Fri between 0800-1600, Tues & Weds 1600-2230 and on
most 
weekends. However National Guard fiscal shortfalls have severely curtailed 
flight operations by these units.

    2. The units' area of operations includes Maryland, Virginia, West 
Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware & New Jersey. They use ranges at Ft. Dix,
NJ and 
Ft. A.P. Hill Virginia.

    3. The National Guard Bureau's Counterdrug Joint Directorate uses 
specially equipped C-26 fixed-wing aircraft and OH-58 Reconnaissance and
Interdiction 
Detachment (RAID) helicopters in support of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) 
during counter drug activities. These assets could also be of value
supporting 
first responders following a chemical incident. 

All of the aircraft are equipped with multi-band radios, forward looking 
infrared, and have both photo and video capability. These helicopters also
have 
high-intensity night lights and real-time down link capability. 

These assets are only legally approved for surveillance in a counter drug 
role. They are able to get special approval on a case-by-case basis to be
used 
for other types of emergency missions. If they were to be designated as a 
chemical or biological support asset, current policy and law would need to
be 
changed.

    4. Press reports of Dec 01 indicate that the NG has retired all their 
AH-1s and that those units previously flying them will transition to older 
OH-58As until newer aircraft are found.
