Hi all,

If anyone's interested, Harford County and Baltimore County ARES (Amateur
Radio Emergency Service) will be conducting a mutual aid exercise this
coming Saturday the 19th, from 1000L-1400L.

The exercise scenario is being kept quiet until the groups are activated,
but there will be plenty of formal and tactical traffic passed, including
some surprises.

Operation will be on 2 meter simplex only, to simulate failure of *all*
commercial utilities and force stations to relay traffic post to post and
put the max simplex signal out they can, without relying on repeaters.

If you're within simplex range, here are the freqs:

Harford County primary: 146.595 simplex
Harford County backup: 146.490 simplex

Baltimore County primary: 146.450 simplex
Baltimore County backup: 147.400 simplex

All will be CSQ. Ranges may be short since stations will be portable,
with antennas tossed up in trees, and all equip operating on batteries.

Pre-activation sitreps and misc coordination will be on the 146.775
repeater in Hickory, near Belair, in Harford County prior to 1000L. The
repeater will be switched to base station only mode at the beginning of
the exercise.

Posts will be approx north/south along Route 40, with the Northernmost
post in Harford being Swan Creek, tactical call ABERDEEN. Baltimore
County will have a number of posts manned and active also. Both county
EOCs will be manned. I will be at the Harford EOC.

Any amateur from any county wishing to observe in person (too late to
slot you as an operator) are welcome to email me and depending on where
you are I'll see if I can work you in.

Regards ... Steve WA3SWS
