REMARKS:
The A-10s will practice in the Patuxent River NAS (PAX) restricted areas
(R-4005, 4006) and use the PAX Advisory (callsign Bay Watch) freqs 354.8/270.8 as
well as the Washington Center freqs 281.4/256.8/360.7
The A-10s also will practice air-to-ground attacks at either the Warren Grove
MOA (286.2) just outside of Philly or the Kiowa MOA (237.2) just outside of
Harrisburg at Ft Indiantown Gap.
The C-130s tend to practice navigational flights in the local area and will
occasionally fly to Andrews or over to Harrisburg or Dover for practice ILS
approaches. They have also been noted practicing night drops over at Phillips
AAF at Aberdeen. As a new owner of "J" models the 135th AS has become a popular
place for other C-130 units to visit. In this regard the 135th AS has become
a defacto conversion/training unit for others expecting to receive the "J"
models.

Martin State Airport is also the home of the Maryland State Police
Aviation Unit. Their Hqs is at Strawberry Point at the West end of the airfield. The
MSP aircraft use the callsign TROOPER and refer to their landing area as "the
Point" or the " Bear's Den." The unit flies the SA-365 Dauphin helicopter as
well as a Cessna 172 (Trooper 9) and a King Air C-90 (Trooper 10). The
Troopers usually use 44.74 MHz with their SysCon controller; but will also be noted
on the helo unicom 123.025.
Martin State also houses the Baltimore County Police aviation unit flying
helicopters using the callsign COUNTY AIR 1 & 2. They also use the Strawberry
Point landing area.
One of the landing/take off checkpoints usually referenced by the MSP &
Police helos is Echo West. Echo West is the runway intersection adjacent to the MSP
Aviation Unit hangars at Strawberry Point.
