  Certainly sounds plausible.But one possible drawback  was that,unless I 
read some posts wrong,there were a number of,assumed,non-FAA aircraft that 
were in on the "emergency" relaying info about the a/c to authorities.

  No doubt about one thing though....it was interesting.

Although I doubt NBC responds to Scan-DC posts. :)
