[Scan-DC] some nice MT articles, and federal rebanding

There were a couple of nice articles in recent MT that I'd like to mention, since they cover our area; one was a nice 3 page piece by John Mayson on Delaware in the Jan 2005 issue ('Scanning the First State')

The other is one of interest to milair fans. check out the Feb 2005 issue of 'Milcom' entitield 'DoD Publications/charts'. In that article, Larry talks about the milair rebanding, where DoD has been quietly shifting freqs to either a .x25 or .x75 split. It got me to wondering what has been happening with the milair airport freqs in our area.

BWI is the only airport I can monitor for this, and I noted that 257.8 this afternoon was not on the air (this could easily have been a mistake on someone's part, so it's far from definitive), but 307.9 was, even though the frequency doesn't fall into the bandplan.

Interestingly, the list of Reagan and Dulles freqs ar:

(about 1/3 down the page, for those curious)

show that some of them show up on Larry's list, while others don't. And some freqs haven't been moved yet. Clearly the rebanding hasn't taken full effect here as yet, but it looks like more changes are in the works.
