 I think it is actually FCLP's.  Field Carrier Landing Practice.  Most of
the Navy pilots I have known just call it the BOUNCE as they bounce all day.
 I was able to go out with VFA-203 4 different years and watch and
photograph them doing their thing.  It was awesome to watch each time.  They
practice just like they are landing on the boat.  The LSO or Paddles is
grading each and every landing and can and does wave them off when he needs
to.

Paddles is the Landing Signal Officer's callsign on aircraft carrier.
On the aircraft carrier the frequency the aircraft talks to Paddles is
called Land/Launch. I've copied Paddles using GCA frequencies for years
while practicing carrier landings (FLCP, I think for field landing
carrier practice - this is coming from a P-3 guy)on the beach.
