The 2000+ officers are all being sworn in and briefed at Georgetown
University this morning. The Washington Post mentioned yesterday some
departments participating: Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA, Charleston WV,
Burleson County TX, Albany NY and Portland OR.

The National Capital Region's radio cache from Fairfax County has been
provided to the District. Does anybody know how these radios are
configured? I assume the standard 800 MHz line-up for either police or
fire?

MPD was busy much of the afternoon on the Special-Events-1 talkgroup driving
visiting police officers from the airports to hotels. The enormous number
of officers coming to Washington was unlike any event I've heard. They came
from all over the country.

I called D.C. police public info office and was told they have a list of the
participating departments but were not going to share it with the public for
undisclosed reasons.

While MPD was busy busing officers into town, U.S. Park Police became
involved in the van standoff. The notification/response from Park Police to
MPD SOD seemed to be somewhat slow.

In the early hours, on marine ch.69, 156.475, sounded like military
personnel chatting on the radio, although not professionally. They were
playing around. Coast Guard Station Washington has been active on channel
23-A, 157.15. But I still suspect the station has a non-marine channel it
uses as well (any clues)?

Alan
