"What we have here is a failure to communicate."
</Strother Martin>

Speaking from experience - and how - I have observed that the Internet
doesn't do nuance. Smiles, grimaces, and shrugs don't get transmitted
through the cyberether. The comment "Manuals mean nothing to me" had me
yelling at the monitor too. Now that all the dust has settled, I can that
Wilson Hulley has a particularly tough row to hoe. At the time, who would
have known? Not me.

I decline the opportunity to elaborate, but I've done worse. Lots worse
than this. OK, I'll give an example. A guy posted some pictures on a
railfan list last summer. I didn't care for them, and forwarded by
remarks, that the photographer should have his camera taken away if he
can't do any better than that, about them to another railfan. Except I
didn't hit "forward," I hit "reply," and I didn't reply to the
photographer; I replied to everyone on the list. Worldwide. I got to hear
about that. I still don't like the pictures, but....

If I had some beer, I've have a beer.
