Well, you can and you can't. Based on the scenario you're looking at, no
it's not really possible. One of the hang-ups with the 796D is that it locks
onto the first CC it finds and stays there ... therefore, if you had Montgomery
and Howard in the same bank (in that order), it would only "look at" Motgo's CC.
Now, I'll explain what I have in my 796D, even though it's a little different
from your situation.
I travel quite a bit, and until the Pro-2096 and it's V-Folders come out next
month, I have to rely on my 796D to monitor all of the trunked systems in the
areas where I go. I have the following:
Bank 1 - Three Motorola systems (Plan 1)
Bank 2 - Three Motorola systems (Plan 2)
Bank 3 - Three Motorola systems (Plans 3)
Bank 4 - One EDACS system, two Motorola systems
Bank 5 - One EDACS system, two Motorola systems
Bank 6 - One EDACS system, one Motorola system
Bank 7 - One Motorola system
Bank 8, 9, 10 - Conventional VHF & UHF
The first system in each bank are systems that I listen to on a regular
basis, and I have the TG's that I listen to on a regular basis in the first two or
three lists in each bank. However, when I am getting ready to head out on a
road trip, I will open every list in every bank, and as I travel in and out of
an area used by different TRS's, the scanner will automatically find the
appropriate TRS and lock on it.
If it's still confusing, in bank 1, I have one system from the Richmond area,
Tidewater area, and NoVA area in. I normally just listen to lists 1-3 on
Bank 1. But when I hit the road, I will open the lists for whatever area I am
headed to, and as I lose the CC for the Richmond area, I will travel a ways, and
then the scanner will eventually pick up the CC for the next TRS in that bank.
The trick is the banks in which I have both EDACS and Motorola in the same
bank. The scanner can only monitor one or the other in a bank at once, so I
will have to change the trunk type on the fly with these systems.
Hope this helps!
Taylor - Richmond
