My military acronyms are all getting confused in
my
head.  IIRC, there are 3 radio systems/protocols
for
that information: Link 11, Link 16, and TADL (or
something close to it).
I think Link 11 is HF, Link 16 is VHF/UHF, and I
don't
know much about TADL.
I Googled all three and I'm not coming up with
much. 
I *think* Link 16 is the one you're describing.
Perhaps Rick or someone else has some better info.
