[Scan-DC] Searching 380-420

Folks,

I have set up a dedicated scanner running a search from 380-420 MHz in 12.5
KHz steps in FM mode. I am doing this as there is recent talk of the
refarming done due to the recent opening up 380-400 to LMR use.

My purpose for doing this is to start to try to evaluate whether or not I
can possibly receive any of the new P-25 systems from down here in St.
Mary's County. To my knowledge, there are no digital systems down this way I
can receive reliably, but I wanted to try to look into it and double check
for myself.

Currently I do not own a digital scanner and really don't want to throw
money at one unless I know I will be able to receive the comms. I know
Charles County is looking into putting in a digital system and I believe
Dahlgren has one online already. But my intent is to "attempt" to search
this range and see if there are any systems I can pick up. I am handicapped
as I can only do this via conventional scanners but I "assume" I should at
least be able to hit the freq, albeit conventional, and I would think I
should be able to hear some sort of tone bursts or other tell-tale signs of
digital use.

Now my dilemma is that I don't know what the heck to listen for. Has anyone
seen a website that has audio clips of the various types of digital signals
one might hear when listening to a suspected digital system. I know I have
seen websites before that have various audio clips of this nature but I
can't seem to find any of them now that I want to.

So far, I have hit about 40 freqs in the search. 3 of which seem promising.
416.775 had some sort of burst on it I suspect was associated with a digital
system and 398.25 & 403.7875 seem to be hitting with something but not
similar to what I heard on 416.775, these 2 ha e more of a sporadic open
carrier.

Anyway, if someone can point me in the right direction I would certainly
appreciate it.
