I have ordered the Pro-96 (with the $150 Rebate!). Will it come pre-loaded
with the frequencies for the Herndon P.D., or must I hand enter the data?
If so, does anyone know the specific frequencies?

If memory serves, Herndon is part of the Arlington county system. I
would expect that the V folders in the PRO96 would have this information;
if not, there's lots of places to get it. For example:
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&stid=51
(listed by county - free registration required for access)
or here:
http://www.davidschoenberger.net/scanning/virginia/index.htm
Hopefully you also ordered (or bought) the 20-289 programming cable; if
you did, download Win96 from:
http://www.starrsoft.com/software/Win96/
There's more info on the correct programming cable to use here about 2/3
down the page. Don't let the RS folks bamboozle you into thinking the
20-048 cable/software will work; it doesn't.
I also understand that the cable sold here works fine as well:
http://www.pro96.com/
Finally, the Capitol Hill Monitors p96 library page has files you can
download that will work with Win96 that have Arlington information at:
http://henney.com/chm/files/p96files/index.htm
I'm told that programming it by hand is something of a bear; better to
get Win96 to do it.
