[Scan-DC] Emergency Distress Beacon Tracked To TV

  I was just looking at the Wash Post,for 10-19-04,& there's an article 
about how a 121.5 international distress signal was routed,via satellite,to 
Air Force Rescue Center,Langley AFB Va.
  Alot of S&R people,CAP,police,ect were sent to a Corvallis,Ore. 
address,approx 70 miles south of Portland. After abit they thought they 
were dealing with a malfunctioning transponder in a boat or small plane.

  Come to find out this guy's TV was the deal sending the trans.The 
authorities told him not to turn on the tv anymore or face a $10,000.00 
fine.Toshiba ended up giving him a new tv set.

  Now that would be a drag ,looking out your window & seeing all these 
types converging on your house.
