Anybody have any thoughts on the new Bearcat 898T?
I live in Fredericksburg, Va and hope to get the local LTR systems as well
as A.P. Hill VHF trunking.
Thanks
Ben

I knew you lived over there.
No need to honk. The next time you see someone raiding the 55-gallon drum
for cells and batteries, you will be looking at me. Unfortunately, the
[expletive deleted] city now clamps a top onto that drum. It was a gold
mine while it lasted.

All,
Freqs: 139.15 (Huntress)
360.7 (ZDC)
362.3 (ZDC)
Callsigns: Huntress
Brave 1 & 2 (F-16s 121st FS DC ANG, Andrews)
In the late 1000 hour EDT Huntress vectored Brave 1 &2 towards a fast moving
target climbing at an altitude of 14,000 ft. Brave 1 asked Huntress for
verfification of their mission which Huntress stated was to close on the target and
id by tail number and type.
Brave 1 & 2 both closed on the target at an altitude o 15,500 ft which was
id'd as a Citation N750WM. Once Brave was able to determine that the target was
talking with Washington Center (ZDC), Huntress called off the intercept and
asked Brave flight to the hold position over Baltimore and go into Guard Dog
(unidentified) mode.
Once the Braves (working with ZDC) reported they were in Guard Dog position
they tested their VHF secure voice modes, then went into their normal CAP
patterns.

There've been numerous messages about the 898 on the Strong Signals
message board, and I imagine the 2 898 Yahoo groups have started getting
busy. They're listed on the CHM scanners page at:

I kinda suspect this is a spurious of some kind; ANG tend to be in AM
mode, and this freq looks like it's a mobile/portable (base would likely be
on 453.125).
Where (city/county will do) are you? Perhaps we can nail this down.

I've had a 796D for a few months. I was having "birdie" problems until the
latest patch that came out. The birdie's are gone.
However, I don't think I have the 796 setup right for the APCO-25 system in
Prince William County, VA. Sometimes it works very poorly, sometimes it
doesn't work at all.
I am looking for a ARC250 file for PWC that has the CORRECT settings.
Thanks in advance

Alexandria PD freqs are active. On a Saturday night, they're always

Just in case there were any unusual callsigns heard today:
I visually observed a B2 Bomber over McLean VA, 11:00 local time, heading NNW, at around 5000 feet or more.
Is this kind of thing common? If so, I'll stop reporting such sightings.

Edited to add: I saw one fly over Alexandria, coming from the direction

I visually observed a B2 Bomber over McLean today, at 11:00 local time,

I tried to send a message to Scan-DC but the message from this Yahoo
