Mike thanks for your thoughts. I would not say I am having a lot of problems
with intermod, Just more than I am used to. I t used to be that every few
months I might get a little intermod on one freq. The thing is now with my
search project I worked my way down to some very weak, distant signals and
in the process have found 4-5 freqs that are giving me a fit. Most are on
the BC780.
I remember seeing you posts about having the problems with the 895 and
Spectrum Explorer. I wished you could have worked through it. Even with
another radio. I have tried some of the software on the Strong Signals site
and found nothing that IMHO compares to SC. To bad you did not have another
radio or 2 to try it out on. I would have liked to have seen a review of it.
I may end up getting an 895 at some point. Its lack of 138-144 is a factor
for me and when reading Rich Wells review of it, it is plain to see that he
recommends the 780 over the 895 when comparing the 2 reviews. That also has
me a little skittish as the BC780 is he one I am having the worst intermod
problem with.
For me SC does the trick as it supports so many radios, has plenty of
features that I love. I never have been much on having a different software
package for different radios. I like having one that does it all. I don't
consider a radio unless SC supports it. If I want to change a list of freqs
over from one radio to another it is a matter of 2 mouse clicks. Can't get
much simpler than that. SCANCAT GOLD is supposed to be decent I guess but a
couple of folks that I know of the used to use that tried SC and switched
and never looked back. I guess it was such a resource hog they could not
multitask. Heck I run 5 radios simultaneously on an old PII 400 machine with
56 megs "o" ram. Not much resource hogging there.
Take it easy,
Jeff
