Decent day overall. A few tags and cleared up some confusion on a couple of
freqs I had been hearing the PAX TRUNKED SYSTEM on thanks to help from other
posters.
385.3
I had received numerous hits on this freq, all garbled comms. I played
around with it and tried it in FM mode and it came back crystal clear. I was
shooting emails back and forth with someone who suspected some sort of
image. I had been getting comes on this one as well as the one below from
the PAX TRUNK system. I switched both of these freqs over to another scanner
and did not pick up the comms while the Pro-2035 had it loud and clear. His
being the case my former suspicion of it being a new Land/Mobile freq does
not pan out. To minimize this happening in the future I pulled the Pro02035
off the Freq Search Project and replaced it with an extra PCR-1000. It's a
slower rig but seems just a little more sensitive and also seems to have
better audio output, so hopefully the recordings will be a tad clearer.
386.85
Same info applies here as 385.3 above.
382.0
Chalice with GiantKiller off Cherry Point. Reporting working with VENOM on
358.2 and MAGNET on 300.25. I see several sources already have this as a GK
freq so I am tagging it as FACSFAC VACAPES for now and will sweat the
details later.
282.275
COLT 01 with POTOMAC, Level 25. IFR confirms POTOMAC APP for BWI as well AS
APP/DEP for Martin State. Good enough for me. Tagged as POTOMAC for now.
365.25
This is another one I need to keep my eye on. Had very garbled comms on it,
completely garbled. A switch to FM mode cleared it up nicely but it was too
late to catch anything useful on the freq. All I could get out of it was an
A/C out in the PAX areas around the TARGETS working with his cameras.
Nothing else gained. Replies to post made yesterday indicate this is not
totally uncommon for an A/C to transmit in FM mode. Sometimes a mistake,
sometimes a SAT uplink, a it seems there several folks that have heard
straight FM 2 way communications used. This is a first for me so I will keep
working it.
390.95
Very garbled comms, Almost want to try this one in FM mode as well but since
I switched radios now I want to see what I get before doing anything more
with it.
251.45
Brief comms, nothing gained. Almost sounded like one of these PAX Cockpit
Voice System freqs but they were to brief to be sure.
250.25
CHALICE calling unknown station for Signal check.
235.025
Very brief comms, nothing gained
266.8
A/C with apparent ATC @ 17K. IFR Supp brings this backs as APP/DEp for
OCEANA. Tagging as NTU for now.
256.2
A/C advising BANGER he is up. Freq comes back as Used at PAX. Listed as both
Tactical and Discrete. A couple of other monitors had the same comes
yesterday. I am going to tag it as NHK FLIGHT TEST for now and work out the
detail later.
