I've been using the Pro-96 for about six months and love it. Does a really
nice job with the trunked systems in Montgo, DC, VA and down at Ocean City
(with their edacs system). It also does well with conventional, analog VHF
and UHF. (I get up to NY regularly and have no trouble monitoring FDNY
(vhf) and NYPD (uhf) from out in Suffolk County).
The one thing I don't like about it is the lack of a simple way to jump from
one talk group to another. If you're monitoring Montgomery's 7A, for
example, and you want to switch to 7G the easiest way to do that is go
return to scanning all of the Montgo talk groups and then pause the scan
when 7G pops up. This happens very quickly, but it's still a nuisance.

Guess it's time to get a radio that can do APCO-25 so that I can listen to
Mont Co again.
Anyone using the Pro-96 and/or BC-296D around here? Comments?
To me the 296D has an edge as it will do the 225-400Mhz band for Mil-Air and
Fed 380-400Mhz P-25 systems.
