[Scan-DC] Need BCT-8 Help

I just received my second Bearcat BCT-8. I returned the first one because
after a few hours of
operation, nothing came out of the speaker except the Alert tone. Now the
replacement
radio is doing the same thing. Everything seemed fine until I began
programming in frequencies.
Now the radio is in total mute, except for the Alert tone. The headphone
jack is also mute.
After much experimentation I found that I could get the audio to come on if
I hold the
RMT (remote) key for three seconds. When RMT OFF appears in the display,
press the RMT key
or press the ENTER key and the audio will return. The audio will be good
until I turn the receiver off.
The next time I turn it on, the audio is muted and I have to repeat the
above procedure to restore the
audio. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions (besides returning
the radio AGAIN!!)
P.S. I won't be offended (or surprised) if this turns out to be operator
error.
