Yep, definitely eats up the batteries.

What kind of NiMH's are you using?  You using some with high capacity, like
2000-2300 mAH?  I have a few sets of these and they do pretty well.

Most Costcos in our area carry a Panasonic blister pack that contains 6xAA
(2100 mAH, as I recall), 2xAAA and a nice little charger for about $20.  I
like charger because it is very compact.  The plug folds into the unit when
not in use and there are no external adapters to worry about.

This is my first trunker and I find it to be a battery pig. One set a day
with Ni-MH rechargeable.I have not tried the accessory nicads they offer.
Also no real easy way to switch between talkgroups. Other than that it's
nice to listen to D.C. again(for now).
