[Scan-DC] Salamander?

Heard a call on Loudoun Fire/Rescue last night for a "suspected =
salamander."  Listening to the operations on this call, I got the idea =
that it might have been related to a gas leak in some fashion.  Can =
anyone provide any insight on what a salamander really is?
