Yesterday, during the Billy Goat Trail operation, PG E-101 (Laurel VFD),
along with Howard E-111, was alerted to assist comappny 15 with an odor of
smoke at The Hair Affair on Route 29. E-111 was able to switch over, either
on their mobile or portable (I'm not sure if it has a 800 Spectra mobile
yet, or still has the VHF MCX1000) to the right talk group. However, to my
knowledge, no PGFD unit (except for maybe some at Bladensburg?) has 800
capabilities. At any rate, on switching to Montgomerty County 1 (as I
believe we're supposed to), all I heard was Billy Goat Trail ops. Anyone
know if there's a secondary VHF channel in use for patching to 7B? Or is old
ch 1 going to remain as a soft patch, patched to whatever?

Thanks.

Doug -

You're correct. The big holdup WAS the GPS mapping system.

By the way...I don't know if anyone else noticed but for two incidents today
on Billygoat Trail along the Potomac the talk group patched into old Channel
1 was 7G. I assume this was so that the Eagle could communicate with
Angler's Command, which was on 7G. Channel 1 has now resumed simulcasting
7B.
