[Scan-DC] I'm a little confused

While the County supplies radios for fire-rescue apparatus, and portables
for each of those units, many of the local departments have supplemented
these radios...providing two-way capability to additional folks. Car 8-5,
for example, is the volunteer chaplain from the Gaithersburg - Washington
Grove VFD. Car 28-2 is the volunteer PIO for the same department. It was
inexpensive to buy used VHF Motorolas, and similar radios, but a few
thousand bucks to buy a trunked unit is pretty much out of reach of the
LFRDs.
