Folks,
I am finishing off the basement and am looking for a little =
advice/feedback
on my thoughts for a permanent antenna/coax installation. My shack will =
be
in the basement with my antennas in the attic, as I live in an HOA. I =
think
I am looking at about 30' cable runs. And have the luxury or having my
return air duct chase way almost above where my scanners will sit in the
basement to run the cables through from the basement to the attic.
Anyway, for the initial antenna I am sticking with the RS Discone as it =
is
pretty new. I can always swap it out later once the cables are in place.
For the Cable I am leaning toward 2 runs of LMR-600, 1 run for future
purposes and another run to the Discone for MILCOM scanning which I am
thinking about putting a STRIDSBERG ENGINEERING-MULTI-COUPLER-MCA204 =
which
should feed my 3 computer controlled rigs and still allow me an extra
antenna hookup for a HH something.=20
Also I will have a run of RG/8U and a run of 9913 going up as well going =
to
another RS Discone for local Public Safety stuff and Misc.
Anyway, I was wondering if any of you folks that focus on MILCOMs have =
had
any experience with the RS Discone/LMR-600/MCA204 combination. I have =
looked
into the LMR-600 and it appears to be pretty good stuff but I don't seem =
to
be able to find a lot of first hand user comments about it, I guess =
because
of the price.
Any feedback on my little plan/project would be most appreciated. This =
is my
first time really putting a good effort into an antenna install so I am =
a
novice on the subject. In the past I always just made whatever COAX I =
had
laying around work with everything I had. I know it was not the best way =
of
doing things but I also knew it was just temporary. I want to make sure =
this
install is the one I can live with.
Thanks a heap,
Have a good one,
Jeff
