No, but the CW ID would be broadcast overtop of the simulcast from the local
VHF-Hi repeater itself. The more I'm listening to this the less it appears
to be a simulcast. The lack of squelch tails was throwing me off. I
believe that this is a repeater system that was purchased and licensed by
the city of G'burg for the PD there. It appears to be nothing more than a
TAC channel with comms to HQ over there off of Summit. The same setup was
on their old 155.6550 freq, but that was only simplex. There also appears
to be a LG channel also, which is repeated, seemingly replacing the old
156.2400 simplex freq. These former VHF-Hi freqs appear dead, although
still licensed.

What's puzzling me is that why didn't they just move these local comms onto
the county's ASTRO system like some of the other localities in MoCo? Prime
examples of this are Takoma Park PD, Chevy Chase View PD, etc. Why would
they set up a new but somewhat antiquated repeater system with the new
7.5Mhz splintered freqs and use it. I ask that b/c all of the Delta G'burg
City PD units on MoCo-PD Ch 5 all communicate via the ASTRO system to the
county dispatcher, they're not using the old UHF PD radios any longer. Just
seems to be an unnecessary thing to have--an extra VHF radio to have.

Although, since money governs everything, I'm sure it all comes down to
that.

I forgot to mention how much of a great catch this is...thanks Lawrence.
