I will attempt to answer a couple of posts with one message. Winchester has
a population of around 22,000, the Firemans parade and the grand parade both
wind and zig-zag thru town on several streets. Main Street or part thereof
may be closed to vehicle traffic due to downtown revitalization. I somehow
seem to remember in the 50's their fire trucks were a dark green with gold
crest and lettering.. If you go into town on Rt 50 from the D.C. area, or
off I-81 there is a visitor center on the right just past the National Guard
Armory, I believe you turn right at a either a Fire or rescue station..
Hotels and Motels have probably been booked solid for a year. This is one
big shindig.

Is Winchester, VA? Is there an exact location like Main Street, etc?

For you fire buffs, not sure of the date but it should be May 2nd,
Winchester's 76th Apple Blossom Festival will have the Firemans
Parade on
Friday Night. This is generally a couple hours of wall to wall fire
trucks
and apparatus and from lots of distant locations.
The main parade is on Saturday afternoon.
