Yes, a lot of those state police base stations were up at
Hog Back Mountain, which is somewhere up there.

You can hear and talk for quite a long ways from
up there, so take full advantage of it. Pull off at
a scenic overlook and look, then play with the radio
for a few hours. You will be amazed at what you can pull in!
