I have several Astro Spectra's in the office monitoring MC, FFX and
Loudoun's systems and the audio even on Motorola's digital radio's
leaves a lot to be desired!

Subject: [Scan-DC] Digital audio
As a former lesser demon of the Batwinged one (I was a Moto FTR for
several years), I can say that bad audio on digital systems is not
really due to the digital itself. The digital system is reproducing the
audio it is given perfectly. The problem starts in the compression that
Moto uses to reduce the amount of audio that must be A/D converted.
Their compression removes so much audio quality (audio range and
harmonics) that the audio sounds like crap before it ever goes into the
digital system. They do this to pass more data in the same bandwidth.
GIGO.
