All,

Over the last month or so I've noticed that the Special Air Missions (SAM)
aircraft of the 89th AW at Andrews AFB appear to have changed their
callsigns. They are now using a four digit 56XX, 57XX & 58XX instead of SAM
plus their aircraft number as they did in the past.

I can't be sure but from the numbers I've logged it looks to me like they are
probably using some portion of a flight number or mission number as their new
callsign.

Ones I have logged so far are 5680 (id as heavy, probably a VC-32A), 5763,
5833 and 5849 w/no repeats noted. I have heard them use this system in both
VHF and HF.

They are using this system only when on official travel. They are still
using their normal Venus (plus 2 digits from the aircraft registration)
callsign when doing local training.
