Stratoliner crew is blamed for ditching in bay
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF
The National Transportation Safety Board has faulted the crew of The
Boeing Co.'s historic Stratoliner for not making sure how much fuel was
in the plane's tanks before its ill-fated flight last March.
The four-engine plane ditched into Elliott Bay after running out of fuel.
None of the four crew members was seriously injured.
....
The Stratoliner, the first commercial passenger plane with a pressurized
cabin, is being restored near Boeing Field and will be flown back to
Washington, D.C., in July for display in the National Air and Space
Museum's new Dulles airport annex.
